Pool Heater
A pool heater is an essential piece of equipment for pool owners in all but the hottest climates. Even those that live in relatively warm climates such as Southern California recommend heaters for certain times of the year. However, for those in extremely hot locations, a pool cover is usually sufficient.
A typical pool heater may come in one of two varieties; above ground and in-ground. As the name suggests, above ground heaters are installed in open view, while in-ground models are buried. In most cases, both styles are powered by natural gas.
For those that want a more ecologically-friendly alternative, a solar powered pool heater can be built relatively easily. These heaters use a pump to drive water through solar panels, which heat the water as it travels through. This type of heater is extremely economical when compared to other styles.
